Dell entering the mobile phone market

Bookmark and Share

Aparantly Dell is going to launch a mobile phone within the next few days.

A source with "knowledge of the situation" has said that Dell will announce the handset in China within the next day or two. If this information is correct then the launch will mark Dell's entry into the mobile phone market, not something you would usually hear from a computer based giant these days.

Apart from featuring a touchscreen, the source doesn't appear to show any signs of of data about the device's technical specifications.

Michael Dell has previously admitted that his company is working on small-screen devices, but hasn't explained exactly what he means by that: smartphones, basic phones, internet tablets, etc.

Rumours have long been flying around that Dell is secretly working on an Android based smartphone but we won't know until we hear it from the horse's mouth. Although China is, admittedly, an odd place to reveal such a phone.

iPhone beater or not, it will interesting to see how this PC manufacturer weighs up to the already popular smartphones.
