What is an Opt In email?

When users choose to receive a bulk e-mail (such as an e-newsletter), they are opting in. The key to an opt in email is that the user has been asked permission. Otherwise, sending a user an email without their permission would be considered spam, which is illegal.
There are a few different variants of Opt In. These are:
